On a camping trip mid September in Port Refrew BC I saw this large piece of driftwood that was once probably a twenty foot tree. Standing amongst thousands of other pieces of driftwood, this one stood out. 

When looking closely at the stump you notice the beautiful grain embedded, the swirls that the elements around it has created. Almost as if it were a metaphor for how every one of us can emerge through life with beauty.
